Today kicks off Climate Week NYC, which we are supporting as a member of the We Mean Business Coalition.

From September 20-26, people from across the world will gather to showcase approaches to climate action and discuss how to do more, faster. This year’s focus is on fulfilling and increasing commitments made in recent years by businesses, governments and organizations.

Hosted annually by international non-profit Climate Group in conjunction with the United Nations, and in partnership with COP26 and the City of New York, Climate Week NYC offers an opportunity for leaders to come together to accelerate climate action and assess progress ahead of November’s COP26.

During Climate Week NYC Opening Day today, senior stakeholders from the public and private sector celebrate climate action that is underway and announce new work and achievements towards the goal of achieving net zero by 2050.  Speakers will explore what the 2020s needs to look like and what definitions are being used so we have a consistent set of language to deliver against.

Participating at Climate Week NYC is just one of many activities we are focused on at Dassault Systèmes related to our support for climate action. Here are some of our leading actions to address different aspects of climate concerns.

  • Decarbonization: in collaboration with Accenture, we explored how virtual twins can help accelerate decarbonization. The research revealed five industrial use cases alone could yield combined benefits or 7.5 Gt CO2-eq of emissions reductions and $1.3 trillion of economic value. Visit our Designing Disruption page to learn more and read the paper. Or explore a recent article in our Compass magazine that looks into the role virtual twins can play in meeting decarbonization goals. Or watch the following video!
    • Climate Action Day: With the Science Based Targets initiative – SBTi – and its Business Ambition for 1.5 degrees campaign which involves a group of over 1000 climate-leading companies, we are declaring Friday, October 15 #ClimateActionDay. On that day, hundreds of world’s most ambitious companies on climate action will to amplify their climate actions and call for other companies, organizations and governments to take more action ahead of the G20 Summit in October and the COP26 conference in November. We will share more on that as the date nears.
    • Net Zero: a world leader in 3D digital technologies, we have furthered our purpose to harmonize product, nature and life by establishing a strategy to reduce emissions in line with climate science, with a goal to reach Net Zero by 2040. You can learn more about our approach in a previous blog post.
