Did you know that a billion people make over 4 billion rotis every day by hand? Creating the perfect roti – the Indian version of a flatbread – is an arduous process, requiring a very specific consistency, as well as a particular cooking temperature and positioning to achieve the perfect ‘poof and fluff’ that are hallmarks of the bread when it’s well made.
Pranoti Nagarkar, co-founder and CEO of automated kitchen appliance company Zimplistic, wanted to make life a little easier for home cooks. That’s why she, along with co-founder Rishi Israni, created the Rotimatic – the world’s first roti-making robot.
The Rotimatic can now be found globally in as many as 100,000 homes since its market launch in 2017. Its ingenious design takes data from 15 different sensors to automatically adjust the proportion of flour and water so that it can mix, knead, flatten and cook perfect flatbreads in just 90 seconds.
To build on this success and further improve the features of the Rotimatic, Nagarkar and Israni sought a collaborative platform that could help them optimize their company’s processes and heighten its efficiency.
Enter the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on Cloud. Empowered by its technology, engineers working on any one of the Rotimatic’s 300 parts can now collaborate at any time, from anywhere, safe in the knowledge that they are working on the latest iteration of the design. Meanwhile, non-technical employees can also view different design iterations, and access the latest machine-related files and documents.
