Dassault Systèmes’ Science in the Age of Experience online

Episode 4: Tomorrow’s Sustainable Cities, Tuesday, November 10, 2020

Cities are having to deal with sustainability and, in some cases, their very survival.  From extreme events to short-term threats to crafting long-term policies for growth and infrastructure, urban areas must rethink ways to ensure resilience. Extreme events are pushing citizens and leaders from one challenge to another on pollution, the environment, natural disasters (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, wild fires), health concerns around the pandemic and reopening, societal issues on public safety and security.

On Tuesday, November 10, Dassault Systèmes’ Science in the Age of Experience completes the virtual event series with Episode 4: Tomorrow’s Sustainable Cities. The focus is on urban life, innovation and sustainability, and how virtual twin technology through Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform is changing the game for urban decision making and operations.

Episode 4 of Science in the Age of Experience in 2020 will finish our series highlighting scientific innovations in life sciences, sustainable manufacturing and making cities sustainable. Leading scientific minds from around the globe join us virtually online for presentations of their work, LIVE roundtable discussions to conclude each episode, and interactive Q&A sessions.

Each episode is 2 hours, beginning at convenient times to accommodate multiple time zones and facilitate LIVE interaction with our audience. Our goal is to build a global scientific community and help you build a network among your peers.

For this episode, Simon Huffeteau, Vice President Construction, Cities and Territories industry group, Dassault Systèmes will be the host and introduce our expert speakers during the session.

We start the program with Marijana Novak, Data Strategist, Circle Economy, who specializes in developing knowledge and data platforms.

, one of Asia’s largest facilities management businesses. Aden was founded in 1997 and has developed across China and South East Asia. The company helps 2000+ commercial and governmental customers optimize their operations, meet regulations and reduce the environmental impact of their built assets.
François Amman, Co-founder & Co-president, Aden Group

Both the technology and economics of facilities management is growing in importance. Using simulation, virtual twin and Internet of Things (IoT) enables improvements in design and operations of buildings, helping to optimize the capital lifecycle costs of buildings that account for 80% of total building cost.

The next presenters are Jean-Paul Roux, Vice President EuroMed Sales, Dassault Systèmes, and Emmanuel Vanoli, Industry Process Consultant Senior Specialist, Dassault Systèmes, who will show applications of working closely with customers during the pandemic to ensure that their facilities would be safe.

The first application is work done with the Philarmonie de Paris, one of the most prestigious symphonic concert halls in the world, designed acoustically to provide an exceptional listening experience that makes it one of the best venues for music lovers. We looked at the configuration of the concert hall and its aerodynamics to naturally reduce transmission risks for the virus. The second example shows how similar simulation techniques were used to keep patients and staff safe in hospitals by limiting the risks of spreading infections.

Episode 4 will wrap up with an interactive Question & Answer session and roundtable discussion including Simon, Marijana and Emmanuel.
