Today’s modern businesses cannot afford to be held back by decades-old processes.
Take Irizar, for example.Established in Spain over 130 years ago, the company is transforming passenger transportation with its range of buses and coaches which are not only built with luxury in mind, but are sustainable too. As well as traditional diesel options, it can deliver 100% electric, hydrogen, hybrid and bio-diesel solutions.
However, the Irizar team found that their physical prototyping process was holding them back. Not only was it incredibly time- and resource-intensive, but it was also prone to a lot of errors. As a result, it decided to make the transition to digital prototyping, achieved through Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Today, Irizar’s geographically dispersed team can design and test its products in a virtual world. They can do this accurately, and at speed.
Each and every transportation vehicle, part, system and battery can be simulated in 3D, reducing the need for physical prototypes. This cuts waste, keeps costs down and enables Irizar to reach the vehicle manufacturing phase much earlier. In fact, vehicle development time has decreased by 25%, design time by 15% and manufacturing errors have fallen by 17%.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Europe, specialist machine manufacturer Vesper was also looking to modernize its business. The Germany-based organization creates incredibly compact machines that run complex processes such as edge wrapping. But running an operation like Vesper’s is far from simple. It involves the careful management of multiple time-consuming processes, and this requires advanced planning and agility to ensure projects move quickly from development in through to construction, which takes place in Vesper’s purpose-built factory.
