The Hispano Suiza Carmen may take its style inspiration from the 1920s, but there is nothing old fashioned about this luxury car. It is, in fact, a high-performance electric racer and pioneer in the new ‘hyperlux’ vehicle segment, combining hypercar-rivalling electric performance with exquisite luxury. Beneath the Carmen’s sleek carbon fiber exterior lies a high-output electric powertrain that produces an impressive 1,005 horsepower, allowing it to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than three seconds. It was developed by Barcelona-based QEV Technologies, the leading electric vehicle developer which runs the Mahindra Racing Formula-E cars.

QEV Tech is a company that knows exactly what it takes to create a winning electric supercar, but its ambitions reach far beyond simply wanting to make electric vehicles go faster. Off the racetrack, the Spanish developer is applying its expertise to help accelerate the wider transition to electric technology across the transport and mobility industry.

“We want to apply this technology to change the world,” said Joan Orús, COO of QEV Tech. “We want to have clean cities. For us, it’s not just about developing the fastest, most expensive cars; we need to focus on lowering costs and bringing greater efficiencies to the wider mobility industry, and we can use our expertise to do that.”

Through its three business lines – motorsport, electric hypercars and electric buses – QEV Tech partners with leading OEMs to help them develop electric powertrain technology and full e-vehicles, from design concept and prototyping to full production.

As demand grows for the company’s cutting-edge technology and industry-leading expertise, it faced the challenge of increasing complexity. Transitioning from a start-up with just a handful of engineers to a team of more than 50, QEV Tech needed a platform to bring everyone together, streamline workflows and collaborate on complex designs.

The company found the answer in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud and today is taking advantage of its collaboration, simulation, integration and project management capabilities to work on bigger, more complex projects and accelerate the development of electric vehicles on a global scale.

Watch the video below and read the full story here to discover how QEV Tech is scaling its business and collaborating with the world’s biggest automakers as they join the electric revolution, all supported by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
