Today, cars are a huge part of everyday life for many around the globe and are considered as the third living space besides home and office. Bosch Car Multimedia, a division within Bosch Mobility Solutions, creates intelligent solutions to make the integration of in-car entertainment, navigation, telematics and driver-assistance systems more flexible and efficient, while keeping it as easy as possible to operate.
Connectivity opens new opportunities for an unforgettable driving experience. However, connected systems generate increasingly complex products and processes. To master this challenge, Bosch Car Multimedia tested the model-based systems engineering approach using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. During the proof of concept, all involved disciplines worked together to create a holistic digital model to incorporate the requirements of mechanics, software, hardware and kinematics.
Because any change affects the complete system and sub-systems, it is critical to see from the very start the effect of changes across multiple domains. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides full traceability within all different disciplines. And if there is a change on one part within the complete system, all disciplines can see the impact to all related components. The model-based systems engineering approach enables teams to test and validate a new or redesigned product at a very early stage reducing physical prototypes.
Harnessing a digital workspace that unifies all stakeholders and enables model-based systems engineering is transforming the way new projects are coordinated during the entire development phase. Collaboration is optimized through sound multidisciplinary tradeoffs from the very beginning. This can benefit not only Bosch Car Multimedia but also their customers. Establishing a digital twin makes communication easy and descriptive.
