The global nuclear fusion technology market is forecast to grow from US$1.7 billion in 2035 to a staggering US$6.8 billion by the end of 2040.

This substantial growth is expected to be driven by advancements in fusion technology, increasing private investment and a growing number of innovative start-ups entering the nuclear fusion industry.

One such startup is Hungary-based research and development company GEMS Engineering, which, alongside its colleagues at another research institute, delivers a range of diagnostic systems for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project.

Engineers from the two organizations need to work together on the initial concepts for the various diagnostic systems – a process which involves extensive research and development. They then need to complete multiple design iterations using mechanical engineering and analysis before moving through the prototyping, manufacturing, testing, and final review and installation stages.

Using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud to better organize, manage and collaborate on its concept designs is changing the game for GEMS, facilitating systematic product data management and more effective project management, leading to a 15% increase in efficiency. Read more about how GEMS believes adopting the 3DEXPERIENCE platform will strengthen its position and, ultimately, help it advance the move to fusion energy and clean energy.
