It all began with a vision. How do we bring the power…

It all began with a vision. How do we bring the power of simulation to those who’ve never experienced it before? Simulation is so intricately woven into design processes that many times consumers aren’t even aware that it plays an important role in the final concept of a product. Engaging the world about how profoundly simulation impacts our everyday lives has been a dream of the SIMULIA Marketing team for some time.

So, what does it take to turn a dream into reality?

Courage. Determination. Resilience. Creativity. But most importantly, grit and hard work.

We are excited and proud to have officially kicked off the Reveal the World Tour for Fall 2019. Simulation is on the road and coming to you! Check out our recap from week 1 of the tour below from Stephanie Bailey-Wood, SIMULIA Marketing Director, EMEA and AP, and member of the trailblazing tour staff, and hear directly from students and customers at various locations about their experience on the tour. Check back each week for a new recap and for a preview of the week ahead.

On Monday, September 23rd we visited the University of Toledo and their College of Engineering. While most who came through the tour were students, we also got to meet local commercial customers as well.  The University of Toledo students were especially excited to check out everything on the tour, but the Real-Time Simulator and the Living Heart Project on the zSpace were among the favorites.

Our next stop on Wednesday, September 25th and Thursday, September 26th was Purdue University and the Indiana Manufacturing Institute.  We were honored that our past keynote speaker and simulation champion, Professor Byron Pipes, Executive Director, Composites, Manufacturing and Simulation Center, wanted his students to experience the future of simulation and see the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in action.  The tour remained busy with numerous visitors, including students and research staff from Purdue University, and also from local commercial customers.

One of the most exciting parts of the week was when the tour hosted a large group of home-school educated children, who filled the bus with the most wonderful gasps of amazement at all of the simulation technology they got to try out.  At Dassault Systèmes, engaging with the “Workforce of the Future” is an important initiative and it was especially great to see the children interacting with the various AR and VR experiences.  Also, the SIMKraft app for kids was a big hit, along with the operating room experience on the Vive.

When the Composites, Manufacturing and Simulation Center team came to visit, they were very impressed with the additive manufacturing experiences on the tour and enjoyed a talk by SIMULIA’s Innovation Lab Director, Lori Bonynge, about the state of the art modeling and simulation SIMULIA does for additive manufacturing applications.  To close out this amazing week, the tour staff was invited on a private, guided tour of the Indiana Manufacturing Institute additive manufacturing labs, where we were captivated by the important research they are doing there.

We hope you enjoyed this recap of our first week on the Reveal the World Tour! Next week we’ll be visiting the Ohio State University, and NAFEMS.  See you at the next stop!
