3DEXPERIENCE is a collaborative platform, that encourages multiple people from different disciplines come together and work together to deliver a high-class solutions and experiences to their customers. This platform also provides access to access multiple vendors of the company to interact and collaborate to deliver a product or to provide a solution. Allowing vendors to the platform can be achieved by using Collaborative spaces.
Collaborative Space is a working environment on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Collaborative spaces are created to work on a dedicated project and allow multiple users to work in it. Creating a collaborative space for the project and allowing the organizations members and vendors to work in the collaborative space makes information flow easier among the various stakeholders.
When the collaborative space has multiple vendors, it is important to keep data privacy of the data shared by the organization and vendors. The owner of the collaborative space takes care of the access control for various users.
This Best Practices document explains how a collaborative space is created and how each user is assigned with an access role that defines data access control for the user on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This also explains how the restricted roles are assigned to the vendor user to prevent data access created by the parent organization or different vendors. This will be useful for organizations who need multiple vendors to interact with the organization to deliver a product or solution.
To illustrate data access control using the restricted roles, a workflow based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is considered. In the workflow, collaborative space is created to work on a Skateboard Design project. To work on this project, the vendor users are added to the collaborative space and assigned to the restricted roles.
