The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) Summit in Singapore addresses trends and challenges in Singapore’s accelerating industrial adoption of additive manufacturing since Oct 2015. NAMIC focuses on industry sectorial applications to help companies co-create innovative processes, products and services in Singapore. As Dassault Systèmes offers end-to-end additive manufacturing capabilities on a single digital thread natively through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, NAMIC was an important summit to present our solution to industrial experts and familiarize them with it.

Jerome RETIF, our Project Leader, addresses the participants at the Additive Manufacturing Workshop

NAMIC invited us to conduct a workshop on our additive manufacturing suite, which presented an excellent opportunity for us to interact with prospects and present our platform potential. The workshop, which took place at Design Orchard, Orchard Road, Singapore, received overwhelming subscription for 40 places from industrial engineers keen to get to know more about our solution.

During the workshop, the Value Solutions team presented our end-to-end solution portfolio on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, backed by multi-physics simulation, which enables transformation through a unified and simplified interface. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides designers, simulation analysts and manufacturing specialists with a rich set of additive manufacturing applications for generative design, build planning, virtual print and shape compensation.

The workshop agenda covered ‘live’ demonstrations as well as hands-on demonstrations of key applications on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:

  • 3DDashboard played a key role in showcasing the value of collaboration, which is crucial in additive manufacturing adoption
  • Use of Collaborative Tasks widget helped to define and assign tasks to different users like topology optimization in Functional Generative Design app (GDE) to design engineer
  • Build planning in Powder Bed Fabrication app (APW) to manufacturing engineer
  • Virtual printing in Additive Manufacturing Scenario app (MDA) to analyst
  • Finally, shape compensation in Virtual to Real Shape Morphing (VSO) to design engineer again

The ‘live’ demonstration convincingly illustrated the dynamic collaboration between Jerome RETIF (Project Leader), Fabien DEMOERSMAN (Design Engineer), Adrien ERMENAULT (Manufacturing Engineer) and Vishal SAVANE (Simulation Analyst) from DESIGN to MANUFACTURING planning to SIMULATION on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Our Value Solutions team demonstrating the power of collaboration on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform

The ’on cloud’ solution helped to set up multiple systems and users for the demos. Access to these systems was given to registrants for hands-on training for GDE, APW and MDA. Step-by-step procedures training material was also provided to participants through 3DDashboard. Participants meticulously followed every step demonstrated by the team to understand the platform capabilities. We received very positive feedback and several followup queries from the participants regarding our solution.

Delegates from some of our key accounts, notably Makino Asia, Keppel Technology and Innovation, and UCT Additive Manufacturing Center, participated in the workshop.
