Hello and Welcome to the Week in Review! This is the weekly blog post for a one-look overview of what happened in the DELMIA Communities this past week. But there is a lot more than what is below. Visit the communities to see the exchange of information and ideas between members and DELMIA experts.

With eight active communities, you are sure to find at least one to suit your DELMIA interests. Connect with us to exchange and share on the DELMIA Communities.

See you there!

Global Operations Community

Sustainable Operations

The way we invent, collaborate, produce, and distribute is being reshaped in light of increasing innovation as well as globalization. These changes reveal disruptive forces from human and industrial activities that can lead to overshooting vital resources. As a result, the industry’s status quo is being challenged in every sense by regulators, a growing mass of responsible consumers and just the explicit risk it represents for businesses to continue operating as usual. Sustainable operations goes beyond eliminating waste and negative environmental impacts.

Collaborative Lean Operations

E-Seminar on Lean Transformation

Available now is a new on demand e-seminar where you can learn about the lean principles and discover how Lean Transformation works.

A second e-seminar will follow to make the bridge between lean transformation and DELMIA solutions.

Access the “Introduction to Lean Transformation” in the community.

Virtual Factory & Robotics

The Future of Robotics

What does the future of robotics in manufacturing look like? The market for industrial robotics has been increasing by double digits annually since 2012. Sustained advancement and innovation in robotics technologies and the availability of robotics engineering skills has certainly helped this growth. But, what else influences the future of robotics?

Question from the Community: Work Instruction Template

“Hello,

Is it possible to save a certain view in WI as a template (with annotations and texts etc…)? Then I can reuse it somewhere else in such a way that I can position the new product in the right place and have my Work Instruction ready for use.”

Planning & Optimization Community

Last Mile Optimization Business Processes

In an attempt to increase our understanding of the details involved in a last mile puzzle and better equip our product to support its planning, the IPE team for Last Mile Optimization has been working on the definition of detailed business process diagrams. This post describes the high level business process identified for the Last Mile delivery puzzle. Although the focus of the solution is on operational planning and optimization which entails the creation of efficient routes with a focus on reducing costs, the depot activities are a vital aspect of the supply chain and therefore the planning process.

Manufacturing Operations Management

Work Order Creation in Complex Assembly

Work Order Creation is a manufacturing scenario that all complex assembly manufacturers need to implement systematically. In summary, DELMIA Digital Manufacturing entities such as products, MBOMs, process plans and contained elements (like operations, steps, tools, data collects, work instructions and more) are used by downstream applications like an ERP, DELMIA Ortems and DELMIA Apriso in order to run MRP, procure materials, generate a production plan against current resource capacity.
