Cities have long been playgrounds for architects to bring their wildest dreams to life. Look to the world’s most iconic skylines and they’re defined by objects that appear to defy gravity and the logic of conventional construction methods. Today, new technologies continue to close the gap between imagination and reality, giving rise to a new generation of spectacular towers characterized by increasingly complex geometries and fluid façades.

“The next generation of designs are moving towards a search for new geometries, to create something that is even more challenging and beautiful,” said Giovanni Patron, partner at VLP+P. “When visiting a city, you’re drawn to and fascinated by the big buildings with strange geometries. We ask ourselves how it’s possible to build something like that. We want to make progress and be part of this exciting process.”

It’s VLP+P’s role to help bring these impressive buildings to life. The Italian engineering studio provides technical assistance for innovative and complex steel structures and façades. It has made a name for itself as a global expert in complex geometries and parametric 3D modeling.

A user of CATIA CAD software since it was founded, VLP+P prides itself on taking advantage of the latest technologies and methodologies to push the boundaries of innovation and handle the increasingly complex projects it takes on.

When it needed a powerful platform to handle its every-growing project portfolio and enable collaborative building information modelling (BIM), the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on cloud was a logical next step.

“We want to use the most advanced tools,” Patron said. “It was always in our mind to adopt the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to perform better and innovate our own way of working.”

Read the full story here to find out how VLP+P uses the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in major architectural projects to solve new design challenges and give stakeholders real-time access to building data using 3D models.
