In this video, Nabin Giri shares his experience as a summer scientific software development intern on the Protein Modeling and Simulation team at BIOVIA. During his internship, Nabin leveraged Pipeline Pilot and Discovery Studio functionality to create a workflow for conformational sampling of proteins using AlphaFold. Nabin establishes the limitations of out-of-the-box implementations of models like AlphaFold/OpenFold in capturing conformations and his approach to addressing those limitations.

Nabin Giri is currently a Ph. D. candidate in computer science at Mizzou (University of Missouri) with a strong interest in machine learning and software engineering. His research interests include geometric deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and bioinformatics. Recently, Nabin wrapped up a three-month summer scientific software development internship with the Protein Modeling and Simulation team at BIOVIA. During his internship, Nabin explored the application of models such as AlphaFold and OpenFold for conformational sampling in proteins and developed a novel workflow in Pipeline Pilot to achieve this goal.
