Lithium-ion batteries have become abundant in modern life, powering everything from our smartphones to electric cars. However, the efficiency and performance of these batteries are limited by the materials they are made of, making the realistic simulation and development of battery materials a critical area of research. In a recent paper titled “Ab initio study of lithium intercalation into a graphite nanoparticle,” researchers from the University of Southampton and BIOVIA presented a novel approach to simulating the charging process of graphite-based anode materials.
