I’m one month into my summer internship at Dassault Systèmes and my friends and family members keep asking: “What is Dassault Systèmes all about?”
I could direct them to resources like this blog clearing up misconceptions about what we don’t do (like make airplanes) and social posts explaining how to pronounce Dassault Systèmes (a rookie mistake I made on my first day). For those who’ve never heard of the company, should I start with the history? List out our brands, industries and geos? Do I talk about our offices, customers or our sustainability commitments?
I could go on and on about who we are. But I – and I’m sure I’m not alone here – have found it’s harder to describe what we actually do here at Dassault Systèmes. Fortunately, we have a new video that takes care of it for us.
Turning innovation into durable human progress
In my situation, most of my friends and family say they’ve never heard of Dassault Systèmes. Usually I tell them that might be true, but surely they’ve used a product that one of our customers have used our solutions to make … or make better.
Since 1981, Dassault Systèmes has been a pivotal force of progress behind the scenes that has helped further advancements in a variety of industries around the globe. Today, as an employee explains in the video, we’re “conceiving state-of-the-art software solutions for 3D modeling, simulation, information intelligence and collaboration on an interconnected, secure, online ecosystem called the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.”
What does that mean in practice? Customers use the platform to collaborate, create and visualize virtual twin experiences that let them model and simulate unlimited scenarios, collect real-time data, predict future behavior and test sustainable solutions without breaking things or creating waste.
The 3DEXPERIENCEs we enable are shaping the future of work, transforming medicine, helping manufacturers operate efficiently, safely and sustainably, accelerating startups toward their dreams, pushing innovators toward New Space and making cities a better place to live.
“We know systems are everywhere and systems are complex,” the video says. “Thanks to virtual worlds and the 3DXPERIENCE platform, we transform complexity into clarity, helping millions of people turn innovation into durable human progress.”
We understand how to manage complex systems in virtual worlds as well as the real world, so we’ve applied it to a diverse range of systems in all facets of life. The ultimate goal is to improve our lives through sustainable solutions that prioritize people and the planet.
Just as systems themselves are ubiquitous, there are traces of Dassault Systèmes everywhere. A few more examples:
● From decentralized clinical trials to speed up development of devices and vaccines to virtual twins of organs and radiotherapy rooms that improve patient care and comfort
● From the cars we drive every day, to the electric bike riding through your neighborhood
● From the new furniture you just purchased to the interior design software you used to choose it to the energy and electricity that powers it
● From the vertical urban farming solutions used to grow fresh organic produce to an ice-cold bottle of soda in a newly recyclable bottle
We’re with you every step of the way.
Within my first few weeks at Dassault Systèmes, I’ve become more familiar with a diverse range of topics and concepts. I can appreciate how virtual worlds interact with the real and that the only progress is human. One thing I’ve learned is I’ll always have more to learn.
So when somebody asks me, “What does Dassault Systèmes do?” I try to keep it simple. … After all, turning complexity to clarity is kind of our thing, isn’t it?
