While highly customized product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions sound great on paper, they are often time- and resource-intensive, and costly to maintain.

This was the reality for South Korea-based Samsong, which supplies seatbelts, along with other safety devices, to global automakers including General Motors, Hyundai Motor Company, Kia, Renault Group and SsangYong.

Samsong realized that an out-of-the-box platform could help it design and simulate products more effectively and affordably. It wanted a platform that would allow it to use design data more successfully for component development as well as process and quality control, which could then expedite decision-making. It also wanted to accelerate the reuse of parts, designs, specifications, standards, test results and related information for engineering and manufacturing activities.

Enter Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its Bid to Win industry solution experience. This includes CATIA for vehicle seatbelt design and to create 3D PDF files, SIMULIA for simulating the strength and tensile force of parts, and NETVIBES to ensure better reuse of parts.

Equipped with these solutions, Samsong is realizing multiple benefits. Read the full customer story to discover what they are, and how they have led to reduced work hours, faster R&D and improved work quality.
