High volume of traffic and congestion, rapid urbanization and more than 2 billion cars projected on the road by 2035 create a need for new mobility solutions. With its flying car, Slovakia-based AeroMobil moves personal transportation from two-dimensional space into three-dimensional merging roads with the air.
AeroMobil’s goal is to create the world’s leading platform for personal transportation by combining the best of ground and air travel in one vehicle for true door-to-door transportation. Aside from challenges with design and lifecycle management, meeting the aerospace and automotive regulations is another one.
Since there are no existing certification rules for a flying car anywhere in the world, AeroMobil has to certify their products for road and airworthiness. The list of deliverables for both are long and detailed and it is demanding to fulfill both.
AeroMobil tackles these challenges using Dassault Systèmes and its CATIA and ENOVIA applications. The platform helps ensure compliance because all the documents and designs are secured in one place. In addition, the traceability of the platform ensures end-to-end lifecycle management.
It’s the customer experience that drives AeroMobil’s decision-making process. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform helps to validate the vehicle environment and how the customer will experience this environment virtually. That is especially helpful for the interior design. Take for example the cockpit: this is very complex since it has to meet automotive and aerospace requirements. The platform helps to find the ideal design that meets regulations that the product is safe to use.
