India’s drone market is expected to grow to around $4.2 billion by 2025. Successfully competing in this rapidly evolving industry is Dhaksha Unmanned Systems, a company that has not only increased its efficiency recently, but more than doubled its production.

The secret to Dhaksha’s success is the deployment of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud – scalable technology that has allowed the company to ramp up its business to meet a growing number of orders for its cutting-edge drone solutions that are designed to handle socio-economic challenges and meet the evolving needs of society.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud provides Dhaksha’s internal teams and external partners with a common framework through which they can collaborate on product designs. CATIA’s instant availability on the platform, along with local partner EDS Technologies’ support in streamlining the design process, meant Dhaksha’s designers could quickly begin working in CATIA to engineer the entire structure of their drones.

After designing the large number of mechanical components of their drones, Dhaksha’s designers can leverage CATIA for assembly modeling. This allows them to bring all the various parts together into a single 3D model for visualization so that they can ensure it operates as intended.

Dhaksha’s innovation capabilities have paid off. Its drones used for agriculture, mapping and surveillance applications have afforded it an impressive accolade: it is the first and only drone manufacturer to achieve Type Certification from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for four different drone models. Some of the exciting applications of Dhaksha’s drone technology have begun attracting attention from the media and businesses operating in various industries.

It has also received orders for more than 1,400 of its existing drones and is working on creating higher endurance models that are able to carry higher payloads or operate for longer stretches of time. In addition, it is looking to diversify into new product lines such as swarm drones, which is a cluster of networked drones working together to complete surveillance or search and rescue tasks, for example, faster than a single drone could on its own.

Read the full story to learn how Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud is enabling Dhaksha to scale its operation without any complex licensing requirements.
