Today’s products require complex simulation of their real-world behavior under extreme conditions. SIMULIA XFlow allows users to address complicated CFD workflows, reduce physical testing and make better design decisions faster. The 2022 release of XFlow has several new features and improvements to existing features, a few of which are outlined below.
Multiple new GPU features have been added:
- Probes are now available.
- Solver Surface Integrals are available with “Sum” and “Average” type
- *Velocity and VOF fields only
- Contact angle hysteresis is now available in Phase Field solver
- Isotropic and anisotropic porous media is available for fixed geometries
- Turbulence model selection is now available in GPU with Smagorinsky and WALE turbulence models
- Support for new boundary conditions: convective outlet, mass flow inlet and outlet, and porous wall inlet (phase field only)
- Linux version support is now upgraded to CentOS 7. This means the minimum required CentOS/RHEL version is 7 or greater. Upgrade of your Linux distribution may be required.
- The function insidegeometry() is now supported in GPU.
- The Water Channel has been redesigned for GPU for Free Surface and Multiphase Particle-Based tracking solvers and includes the following new inputs: Free surface level, Current velocity, Wave inlet: Disabled/Regular Linear Theory (Airy) is included with the wave length and wave height inputs
- GPU simulations, also available in Preferences > Engine.
- New option -m or –maxcore to limit the number of GPU Streaming Multiprocessors SM’s Streamline Multiprocessors
CATpart and CATproduct importation now allows the importation of visualization geometries, and the Solver Surface/Volume Integrals now support immersed-boundary geometries and geometries with disabled boundary conditions. Solid geometries in Conjugate heat transfer can now be used as the internal domain bounding geometry, and keyframes are saved using the “Save As” button.
Animated geometries are now supported as Post-Processing shapes, even with loaded data. Moving porous media pressure drop has been improved, now correctly following the Darcy-Ergun law. Moving porous media are now supported, and stability parameters have been introduced with three output modes:
- Automatic : outputs all information when stability parameter >1
- Basic : outputs basic information when stability parameter >1, may be slightly faster than Automatic
- Off : not computed, may be faster in some cases
Finally, the rotational speed law for a body can be input in RPM for enforced motions.
