PLM has been a foundation of product development for decades. What it’s expected to do is changing quickly.
Companies once used PLM mainly to manage product data and engineering change. Today, many are asking it to connect teams across the business, including manufacturing, supply chain, quality, service, and sustainability, and to keep product information consistent from concept through end of life.
Technology is advancing rapidly
The pace of change is hard to ignore. Cloud platforms are changing how PLM is deployed and scaled. AI is starting to show up in how teams search, analyze, and make decisions. Digital twins and model-based approaches are connecting design with real-world performance. Expectations for traceability, sustainability, and regulatory compliance continue to rise.
Every organization is responding differently. Some are well into their transformation, others are still deciding where to begin, and many are somewhere in between. That range is what makes the question worth asking.
What we’re doing about it
Dassault Systèmes is running a short survey on how companies use PLM today across product development and the wider business, and where they plan to take it next. The findings will be included in the State of PLM Report, which will give the industry a clearer view of what organizations are doing now and where they’re headed.
About the survey
- It takes about 10 minutes
- Respondents receive a copy of the final report, so they can see how their peers are approaching PLM and compare it with their own strategy
- Individual responses stay confidential
