“The 3DS Hackathon is a great way to encourage our workforce of the future to push boundaries, think laterally and out-of-the-box. These are the cornerstones for a career in innovation.” – Prashanth Mysore, Dassault Systèmes Industry Technical Director

On the weekend of September 8 and 9, 2018, Dassault Systèmes ran its first 3DS Hackathon in Australia at the University of Western Australia’s Innovation Quarter (IQX). The 3DS Hackathon was the ‘live’ assessment component of our 2018 Graduate Program to identify promising Australian graduates to be our future innovation leaders.

Our focus for the 3DS Hackathon was on 3 main disciplines, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics. These are the disciplines we identified as most relevant to the positions required to fill key roles in Australia.

40 promising Australian graduates took part in the 3DS Hackathon, tasked to collaborate with team-mates from different backgrounds and perspectives to tackle real-life business cases in the 3 disciplines within 2 days, utilising the powerful generative modelling applications on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Inspiring innovations by the Hackers

It has been said breakthrough innovations happen when people come together to brainstorm in an energised environment. We started each day with a fun workout to stimulate the participants’ creative juices followed by industry insights from Dassault Systèmes’ technical leaders.
