The following is a press release issued by The Institutes for Research, Innovation, and Scholarship (The IRIS) and Cebu Technological University (CTU) on the UNIVERSITIES4.0 event in Cebu, where Dassault Systèmes will be demonstrating Industry 4.0 technologies and the power of digital transformation at its 3DEXPERIENCE Playground.
The Institutes for Research, Innovation, and Scholarship (The IRIS), together with Dassault Systèmes and Cebu Technological University (CTU), will hold UNIVERSITIES4.0, which will be themed “Ushering in the New Age of Enlightenment and Collaboration in Philippine R&D”, on 04-05 July 2019 in Cebu City.
The two-day event will serve as a platform for leaders from universities, government and industry, technopreneurs, researchers, engineers, and scientists to discuss trends and strategies in cultivating innovation and incorporation of Industry 4.0 in education and lifelong learning curriculum, as well as in scientific and industrial research in the Philippines.
UNIVERSITIES4.0 aims to encourage in-depth conversations, strategic collaborations, and partnerships among the country’s top university and industry leaders in exploring new R&D projects as well as develop innovative educational and lifelong learning programs which will equip Filipinos, young and old, with the digital skillsets needed for the Industry 4.0 era. Keynote presentations, panel and roundtable discussions, and bilateral dialogues among industry leaders and eminent scientific and educational experts are expected to result in strategic and creative pathways that will address the country’s digital skills gaps as well as unleash the enormous potential of the next generation of Filipinos to engage, lead and excel in the digital-genomic age.

Dassault Systèmes will be showcasing manufacturing solutions through their 3DEXPERIENCE Playground, an immersive demonstration of market-leading innovations that will help in shaping the future of the Philippines’ key growth industries, such as aviation and aerospace engineering, smart electronics, agriculture, automotive, robotics, and digital technology.
The event builds on last year’s gathering of 15 University Presidents and Leaders for The IRIS Presidential Leadership Course held last August 29-31, 2018, which was an intensive program held at the Ateneo Professional Schools in Rockwell Centre, Makati, to enable leadership in Filipino universities to phase in Industry 4.0 into their respective institutions’ curriculum.
UNIVERSITIES4.0 will also provide an opportunity for university leaders, high-ranking government officials and industry delegates to network, learn and galvanize action at all fronts in preparing the workforce of the future for Industry 4.0. All delegates and Cebu-based faculty and students will have the chance to explore Dassault Systèmes’ interactive 3DEXPERIENCE Playground for hands-on demonstrations of Dassault Systèmes’ innovative industry solutions. CTU will likewise showcase technology products from its fabrication laboratories and commercially viable “Hablon sa Cebu Handwoven in Argao.”
