A growing number of automotive companies, from established OEMs to start-ups, from suppliers to existing electric vehicle makers, are stepping into autonomous vehicle development as the next generation of transportation. While AV design is rapidly advancing, it remains a complex development program combining multiple disciplines including design, systems, electronics and manufacturing while testing the limits of autonomous technologies.  Whether an established player or newly-minted venture, how can companies speed time to market for safe, driverless cars?

Dassault Systèmes is offering a webinar series called “Trust the Drive: Using High-Fidelity Simulation for Better and Safer Autonomous Vehicles,” in partnership with SAE to address critical issues and technologies needed to develop new AVs, with a focus on simulation.  Experts from Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA brand will discuss how simulation can virtually validate vehicle behavior and passenger experience in real time to drive innovation, performance and cost efficiencies in AV development.

The first webinar in the series “Autonomous Vehicle Sensors: How to Ensure They Work Well and Stay Clean,” will take place on Wednesday, September 25 at 12:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.  This webinar will focus on sensors, which are essentially the “eyes” of an autonomous vehicle that can interpret the car’s surroundings and assist with navigation and obstacle avoidance. Unlike the eyes of the driver, however, nothing stands between these sensors and the elements, so engineers must also design and test for weather conditions such as rain, snow, mud, etc., which can obstruct the “sight” of the sensors.
