A New Chapter for Simulation and Discovery
It’s a privilege to be writing to you as the new leader of SIMULIA. As I step into this role, I am filled with excitement for the journey ahead—not just for our company, but for the entire field of simulation. I’ve spent my career immersed in technology, and I believe we are at a crucial moment where the possibilities are expanding at an unprecedented rate.
An Exciting Time for Simulation
I am often asked why now is such an exciting time to be working in the simulation industry. My answer is twofold: the evolution of compute power and the emergence of artificial intelligence.
For years, we have dreamed of simulating complex phenomena that were previously beyond our reach. The sheer computational power available to us today, and what is projected for the future, turns those dreams into reality. We can now model and analyze systems at speeds that provide a genuine competitive advantage, enabling rapid innovation and problem-solving.
When we combine this power with the potential of AI, the possibilities become even more profound. Imagine linking AI with the multiphysics simulations we have been developing for years. This synergy won’t only help us find answers to our current questions but also reveal new questions we haven’t even thought to ask. We are on the cusp of uncovering insights into life and science that were once unimaginable. This fusion of advanced simulation techniques and powerful computational tools will accelerate the incredible work our community has been doing for the last two decades.
A Fresh Perspective Rooted in Collaboration
My experience as CEO of GEOVIA provided me with deep insight into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and reinforced my belief that we are always stronger together. That experience taught me the immense value of collaboration across different parts of a business, with our industries, and most importantly, with you—our users and champions.
I also come from a diverse, technical background, specifically in the mining industry, which provides me with a practical understanding of customer needs and the evolving dynamics of the global landscape. My background spans various technologies, and I’ve observed how different fields intersect and influence one another, shaping how we think and work. I plan to bring this cross-disciplinary perspective to SIMULIA. I am known for asking a lot of questions, and I hope that through this curiosity, we can uncover new ways to support our customers and push the boundaries of what is possible.
The Bright Future of SIMULIA
The future for SIMULIA is fantastically bright. We have a confluence of amazing physics, a world-class team that consistently pushes scientific boundaries, and the accelerating power of modern computing and AI. Our focus extends beyond traditional manufacturing into vital areas such as life sciences and infrastructure, enabling us to solve a broader range of problems and make a more substantial impact on the world. The progress we’ve made in the last 20 years has been remarkable; I believe the next 20 will see us achieve ten times more.
On a personal level, the engineer and scientist in me is thrilled by the opportunity to learn from people who have thought so deeply about the fundamental physics of the world around us. I am eager to meet our users from all corners of the globe, learn how you are using our applications, and understand what inspires you.
As for a little about me, I am a proud Australian. When I’m not immersed in the world of technology, my spouse and I are back home in Australia looking after our family of rescue animals, which includes 19 horses, five dogs, five sheep, and three cats. This passion for caring for others is something I bring to my professional life as well, and I am committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive community.
I love SIMULIA because we are fundamentally working to answer some of life’s most essential questions. I am incredibly excited to begin this new adventure, to collaborate with all of you, and to see what we can discover together.

Katie has a BA in English and Writing from the University of Rhode Island and a MS in Technical Communication from Northeastern University. She is also a proud SIMULIA advocate, passionate about democratizing simulation for all audiences. Katie is a native Rhode Islander who lives just outside of her favorite city, Providence. She is a true New Englander and loves sharing all the cool things NE has to offer. She enjoys a variety of hobbies including history, astronomy, science/technology, science fiction, true crime, fashion and anything associated with nature and the outdoors.
