Jeff Whittle, the originator of GEOVIA Whittle software and the founder of Whittle Consulting, has been recognized in the Australia Day Honors for 2018.

Jeff has been named an Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for “distinguished service to the information technology sector and the mining industry, particularly through the development of industry standard computer programs for strategic mine planning and optimization.”

This honor follows a lifetime of sustained achievement from Jeff Whittle. Over the past 38 years, Jeff has pioneered a new industry, creating and developing global mine optimization programs. His computer software has revolutionized the Australian and international mining communities in mine design, strategic mine planning, and most specifically, the ability to optimize the economic value of mine sites around the world.

Following his development of the well-known Whittle Four-D & Whittle Four-X software in the 1990’s, his more recent Prober software has become a trusted benchmark for Enterprise Optimization in the mining industry. This has delivered lasting and quantifiable economic, environmental, commercial and societal benefits.

The Order of Australia is the country’s highest award of recognition and honors Australians who have made outstanding contributions to benefit their communities and country. This year’s Australia Day Honors were announced on January 26, 2018 by the Governor General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove.

Jeff’s legacy lives on in what is known today as GEOVIA Whittle, the world’s best strategic mine planning tool. Enabling exploration and mining companies to evaluate the financial ability and optimal mine strategy for their deposit, Whittle delivers robust mine plans that maximize profitability.

GEOVIA Whittle has evolved to include the Pseudoflow algorithm, which enables strategic mine planners to generate pit shells in a fraction of the time compared to the Lerchs-Grossmann algorithm.

The new Advanced Simultaneous Optimization (SIMO) Module is also now available in GEOVIA Whittle to help mining companies unlock the full value of a mine

If you are interested in pushing the limit of your mining operations with GEOVIA Whittle and would like to discuss with one of our technical experts, email us at GEOVIA.info@3ds.com or contact one of our local offices.

Congratulations again, Jeff!
