3DEXPERIENCE platform Explained

Last month, GEOVIA CEO Raoul Jacquand, talked about the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and what it means for our users. As we prepare to deliver these innovative new capabilities to the GEOVIA community, we’ve pulled together this blog post to explain the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in greater detail and what the new product releases will look like this year.

What is the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and the Compass?

The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is a business platform that enables compelling and collaborative user experiences across your entire organization.  Dassault Systèmes has built the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to make it easy for our customers to implement digital transformation in their business.

The cornerstone of the platform is the 3DS Compass, with four quadrants that incorporate the entire Dassault Systèmes brand portfolio:

• 3D Modeling apps that provide rich 3D authoring and visualization,
• Social & Collaborative apps to bring internal and external users together,
• Content & Simulation apps that bridge the virtual and real worlds, and finally,
• Information Intelligence apps to enable access to all of your structured and unstructured data on the platform.

Together, these applications will compass your business through and beyond the digital transformation.

What does the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform mean for mining?

GEOVIA’s brand promise is to provide 3DEXPERIENCE universes to discover, model and harness the natural and urban environment. We are building a next generation of user experiences that will revolutionize the mining process. I can’t give too much away just yet but our 3DEXPERIENCE Platform applications will bring the benefits of cloud computing, a single source of truth and native access to other Dassault Systèmes brand solutions such as CATIA, SIMULIA and DELMIA, to the familiar enterprise desktop products that you know and love.

We call this “GEOVIA Powered By the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform” and we are very excited about what we can bring from more than 35 years of Dassault Systèmes in manufacturing to our mining customers.  If you want to see what GEOVIA is doing in other segments take a look at 3DEXPERIENCity and our recent win at Mining Magazine Awards 2016 for our Virtual Mine solution.

When can we expect the first application to be available on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform?

Right now!  The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is in production and live on-cloud and also available on-premises. If you are using Surpac for example, you can share your files with the platform and take advantage of collaborative applications for 3D visualization, social communication, and private communities.

Throughout 2017 we will be launching new solutions for our mining customers on the platform. This culminates at the end of the year with the beta launch of our next generation rapid geological modeling app native on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform (shown below) and seamlessly integrated to Surpac and GEMS, with general availability early 2018.

And finally, what’s in store for the existing desktop products?

We are very excited to bring some new technologies to our existing portfolio – some of the major highlights include Surpac advanced point cloud technology that can effectively handle massive point clouds, clean, convert and utilize within Surpac for engineering design and reconciliation.

Also coming are new advanced algorithms for Whittle strategic mine planning that will cut pit optimization processing time by orders of magnitude and reinforce advanced multi-mine simultaneous optimization as the gold standard in life of mine estimation.  These are just a few – we look forward to bringing more value to our customers in 2017 as the mining industry shows signs of recovery.
