After introducing you to the project in the last episode, we will present you the first step of the mast development process, and how the 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables us to reach our goal.
The parametrized design step is one of the most important as it drives the rest of the process. The better the mast is parametrized, the easier it will be to modify the shape and composite layup, to simulate, and optimize the mast.
Through surface design thanks to the Generative Shape Design application, we have total control on the shape of the mast, and therefore on its aerodynamic and mechanical performances.
During the design step, we also define the geometry of the composite layup such as ply width and height. The complexity of composite materials is then made simple through the Composite Design application.
