The French start-up XSun designs autonomous, silent and solar-powered drones for long-range missions. Accelerated by the 3DEXPERIENCE® Lab, XSun is using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud to enable its teams to effectively design, simulate and test its drone.
After 4 years of development, they opened a subsidiary in Munich to further accelerate their business development. Powered by photovoltaic cells and monitored remotely from a ground control, SolarXOne is an effective, economical and sustainable solution.
The energy-independent SolarXOne drone can fly continuously over long distances for long periods, day or night (under certain conditions). The flexibility of its electrical architecture offers the possibility of adapting different payloads on the SolarXOne drone.
Its uniqueness is exemplified with a double-support wing that increases the surface available to host photovoltaic cells and ensure optimal flight performance. Thanks to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, XSun could collaboratively use CATIA for its design, and SIMULIA for structural and aerodynamic simulations.
3DEXCITE stepped in this year to help XSun produce renderings of their future drone coatings. The goal was to create renderings of the drone for several different types of missions, in several environments: infrastructure, agriculture, maritime surveillance, and civil safety.
Thanks to Creative Experience, it was possible to produce images directly from the drone’s CAD data, and even insert an aerodynamic simulation into the experience. These images will showcase the different missions on their new website!
