Take a network of connected tubes and shoot pods through them in a vacuum at more than 1,000 km/h and you have TransPod – an ultra-high-speed ground transportation system. Founders Sébastien Gendron and Ryan Janzen refer to the Hyperloop inspired technology as the transportation solution of the 21st century – a huge opportunity to change the way people and goods travel.
TransPod is designed not only to be fast but sustainable and affordable too. Electrically controlled linear induction engines provide fossil fuel-free propulsion for the pods as they travel through the tube network. At the same time, people are provided with an entirely new way to travel, helping to address the issue of congestion in cities.
More flexible – and faster – than a train or plane, TransPod estimates that once the TransPod Line connecting in minutes the cities of Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, goes live, the ticket will cost approximately 44% less than for a flight to travel the corridor, and CO2 emissions should reduce by 636,000 tons per year.
In summer 2022, the French-Canadian startup unveiled the FluxJet pods. This impressive feat of engineering is the result of a global effort from universities, research centers, the aerospace industry, architecture, railway, and construction partners. To bring all stakeholders together, TransPod uses the 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud platform as they design the system, infrastructure and pods. The platform provides a common set of functional requirements and centralized access to 3D models and all related data throughout the development lifecycle, helping everyone to make highly informed, collaborative decisions.
