Most of the 2021 SIMULIA Regional User Meetings (RUMs) have concluded, having taken place around the world with attendees and presenters from within SIMULIA as well as from partner and client organizations. 10 RUMs were held throughout spring and early summer, and 116 clients presented in total, including eight SIMULIA Champions from both 2020 and 2021. Presenters hailed from major corporations including Pepsi, Airbus, Motorola, and more. The majority of these Champions presentations are now available online in the SIMULIA Community. Here are the Champions presentations that you can watch on-demand:

  • Ismael Rivero Arevalo of Airbus

Behavioral modelling for Virtual Fatigue Testing of Additive Manufacturing Parts for aerospace applications.”

Rivero Arevalo discusses the intrinsic defects in additively manufactured parts caused by the additive manufacturing process itself. Airbus DS is currently developing Virtual Fatigue Testing simulations for additively manufactured metallic parts to predict the effect of these defects on fatigue strength.

  • Allan Zhong of Halliburton

A Winning Formula for Successful Applications of Engineering Simulations.

Zhong discusses Halliburton’s focus on solving challenging engineering problems in a timely manner using simulation. He presents a case study in which the company used Abaqus Aqua to solve a problem involving the dynamics of a nearly 20,000-foot-long tool string in an oil well.

  • Andreas Bitz of FH Aachen – University of Applied Sciences

EM Simulations in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

Bitz talks about electromagnetic simulations as a tool for compliance testing and design   optimization of transmit and receive arrays of MR systems. His presentation highlights workflows and strategies to obtain numerical results for RF exposure assessment, SAR online monitoring and performance evaluation of multi-channel RF coil arrays.

  • Ellie Vineyard of PepsiCo

PepsiCo Beverage Packaging Simulation Democratization.

Vineyard discusses working with Dassault Systèmes to develop a web-based Virtual Test Lab for beverage packaging development. The lab involves CAE experts who wrap complex modeling theories into an automatic, simple form. This allows end-users to easily plug and play the application, obtain the simulation results, and gain first-hand insights about their packaging designs.

  • Andrea Giampieri of Tetra-Pak

FSI Analysis of Water-Filled Package Forming by Abaqus – XFlow Co-Simulation.

Giampieri discusses modeling fluid structure interaction in order to evaluate aesthetic defects, investigate integrity issues, and predict the amount of volume in liquid food packaging. A co-simulation approach between Abaqus and Xflow is employed.

Each of these presentations includes valuable information about simulation, as well as how SIMULIA’s clients are using SIMULIA software. Our Champions were selected for their dedication to and expertise in simulation, and their presentations give some fascinating insight into how they are utilizing their skills and passion.

Please note that the SIMULIA Community, where the presentations are available, requires a 3DS Passport username and password. Membership in the community is free and it is quick and easy to sign up if you have not already done so.  Please stay tuned to the blog for additional presentations if and when they become available for replay.
